Mike Holbein, Owner and Executive Chef, had a vision to create a restaurant where the food itself is the focus. Our Table is that vision realized. The farmers, fisher(wo)men, cheesemakers, chefs, wait staff and customers are all a part of educating, feeding, and creating a more sustainable local vision of our community.

Chef Mike and his staff work with a variety of local and regional farms including Calliope and Pigman's Farm along with The Fresh Approach all in Olympia; Rising River and Steamboat Junction Farm in Rochester; Newaukum Valley Farm in Adna and Hama Hama Shellfish in Lilliwap.

Their goal is to bring our community together through food. Making lasting relationships with farmers and community to ensure a vibrant local food economy. As such, he has sourced his friends for the development of all aspects of Our Table, and asked for logo concepts from his friends.

Johnathan's design proposal took everything into account. The bold rectangular border was used to symbolize a large, family-style table and to invoke a feeling of fellowship between everyone that interacts with Our Table. The font face used was chosen for readability at nearly any size and similarities to the Olympia beer logo (whose typeface has been used extensively in Olympia for decades). The logo text wrapping around the center table represents the idea of many coming together around a common love for food. The clean lines of the logo and font were all utilized for their cost-effectiveness at being easily scalable from a tiny business card, menu covers, and large-scale signage. Johnathan's design wasn't selected by Chef Mike, but the process was a great learning experience.
